The medical treatment procedures we use at City Sports Medicine consist of proven and effective non-invasive, non-surgical and conservative techniques.

Trigger Point Injections:

Trigger Point Injections (TPI) are used primarily to treat pain. This procedure involves inserting a small needle into a specific trigger point area and injecting an anesthetic into the affect area. This results in the reduction or elimination of pain. In essence, the trigger point (which causes the pain) is rendered inactive and the pain is alleviated.

Visco-Supplementation:

Visco-supplements are both safe and effective and are often used to treat arthritis in the knee and other joints. Injections of visco-supplementation fluid have been shown to slow the wear and tear that is put on the joint. This reduces pain as well as improves functionality of the joint.

Intra-articular Injections:

Intra-articular Injections are used to reduce inflammation and pain located in joint spaces; specifically conditions such as bursitis, tendinitis or osteoarthritis. Often containing corticosteroids or steroids, these injections can also be used to drain excessive fluid from the joint which may be a result of trauma.

Acupuncture:

Acupuncture has a long history of being a pain reduction method, specifically long-term, chronic pain. This technique was first developed in China and involves the use of thin needles inserted into specific, targeted areas of the body. Acupuncture is virtually painless, and both safe and effective.
